So on like...thursday i went to Bethlehem to go to library.

While i was there, i also did a photoour of the downtown area and, and weaseled into city hall, where i took some pictures of the plans and models for the upcoming casino and entertainment extravaganca that will forever change the south-side of the city. here are those pictures i speak of.

this building is the casino...

Definitely an interesting complex and one to keep an eye on.

The only issues I see, beyond the obvious one of nationwide municipalities' growing addiction to casino gambling, is:

- I think it makes a bit of a mockery of the plant itself - yeah, it's neat - but I think I would rather see the place torn down and gotten over with. The casino is never going to create the same economic and social (besides health) benefits as the steel plant once did.

- How much is it going to cost this group to clean up and then maintain the otherwise derelict structures (by which I mean the furnaces, piping, etc.)? Assuming they are going to. I can see this becoming one of those things where in today's profits-oriented economy, they are slowly demo'ed to relieve the cost of maintaining a function-less structure.

Otherwise, it'll serve as a fitting memorial to a day when we actually made things (of quality and with pride, no less) in this country.
