Sao Paulo is a big city and has interesting things etc.

But for some reason the city looks better in pictures than when you're actually there

don't get me wrong, the city has its nice parts and all

but overall I think is not a place where I would live.

Looks a bit like San Juan Puerto Rico. I don't undersand why the homes are all barricated. You just don't see that in NYC or London. Sao Paulo is not that dangerous. Are the residents paranoid?

Why live in a place where you consantly have to watch your guard?

Its not Durban or Johannesburg for chrissakes.

Here we live what is called the culture of fear. Televisions, Radio, Media in general trys to sell a lot of security things like alarms, barricates, cameras, blindaged cars... The city is very violent of course, But there is the districts that are very dangerous and others districts that idont. One research once told that there is 3 homicides in the district of Jardins per year for instance, while in Jardim Angela was about 21 homicides per month.

But in general, other crimes like cars robery and small robery of cell phones, money and watches happen in anyplace of the city.

For sure, is not the safest place to live, but it is ok when you´re careful.
