I drove west on blanchard the other day and noticed a "proposed land action use" sign for a 24 story mixed use building at the empty lot at 6th just on the other side of the ramada from the insignia site. Does anyone have any information about this or does a thread already exist?

thanks

they are. and they'll be apartments. this one got slowed for a while with the rise in construction costs but a friend who is working closely on the project told me last weekend that they are a go, hoping to break ground this summer.
Woah! Very cool. This should be a nice addition to the Belltown skyline.

Nice. Are there any renderings floating around out there?

(Probably a stupid question seeing as how they'd be posted already otherwise--but, gotta ask just the same)

The design review proposal is now up on the DPD site:

Wow! Boxes! This project will redefine architecture and human habitat for the 21st century.
I wonder who these are being marketed to. They look like they could be at the cheaper end of the high end...
:eek:hno:
I'm staggered by the beauty and architectural detail! The setbacks! The curves! The modulated and angled roofline! The thin and elegant profile on the skyline!
It's almost as gorgeous as the rendering of 'The Martin'!
lol at the comments. At the least the streetscape looks somewhat interesting.
Before you post links like that you should warn people the thing is 44mb. ;)
Wow the full balconies are really awesome actually, and you know the lower levels are going to interact with the streets in interesting ways

Very true -- my apologies to anyone expecting a smaller download. The design review docs get huge.
I like what's happening to 6th Street. Used to be the only thing between Denny and the shopping district was a liquor store. Looks like we'll have a lot more with this and its neighboring project.

Oh and for the record, this project looks to be called 6th and Lenora not Blanchard if someone wants to change the thread name.

I was going to say something similar to Bond. I'm glad the city is posting the DRB docs but they really should try to offer a lower resolution or executive summary version that's less than 5 mb OR split up the massive pdf into logical chunks with the first chunk being a summary.

I canceled the download as soon as I saw the filesize. Crazy size. If someone feels like posting an image in the thread that would be great.

Cancelled? It took me about 3 seconds to download it, get off the 56k man.

Hey, I have a DSL line and it still took me about 10-15 minutes to download...
Nice addition to Belltown neighborhood! :) I'm curious how many apartment units will be built by 2010 or 2011?
quite a few...I think developers are overshooting the market......just my ipinion though...however, I have no objection to them all getting built from a downtown lifestyle standpoint though....

fire away!
