Is that Macau across the water?
I think I saw the huge bridge entering Macau.
Nice ...It is not Macau, it is Shekou, part of Shenzhen.
From my point of view to answer your first question. What aweful did I say :dunno:
explenation:
1. terrible city planning - Shennan Road (main street) is completely fenced off, it is impossible to cross it on the grade level, only undergound or overground. New part in Futian is another example - I was there yesterday evening, very nice but completely empty, is it normal for CBD of huge metropolis? It is build for cars, each part of the CBD is separated by huge roads etc.
2. pictures here show only one side of Shenzhen. Sure judging by photos of nice architecture it must be very nice place to live, but when you get there you will find out for example that most of the people live in settlements called urban villages, it is almost not possible to find any pictures of urban villages in this thread.
3. lack of history - for me it is drawback as I like the city to be diversified - that is why I mentioned Guangzhou, IMO the best city in China.
4. in general the city starts to be boring after very short time, to give Shenzhen justice there are nice mountains and beautyful costline in Yantian so you can always escape from the boredom of the city to the nature.
