The city of Shkodër is one of the most important cities in Albania
It is 2400 years old city , one of the oldest in Europe
During the Ottoman years it had the biggest Market in the Balkans
It is a city rich in culture and tradition
Located in North-Western Albania , it makes up of over 100.000 inhabitants
Because it is a northern city , it hasnt progressed as it should , so is way behind Tirana and Durrës

Shkodra has some nice architecture but the city overall is underdeveloped in comparison to Tirana, Durres and Vlore.
It will take a while for them to catch up.

Shkoder has plenty of potential considering its size and importance in the North however it remains one of the most under-developed cities in Albania still.

Shkodra is still quite a poor city as the pictures show, i heard many of its citizens are moving to Tirana.

At the moment Shkodra is a shadow of its glorious past, but the ingredients are there.

Being an incurable optimist I am sure Shkodra will shine again.

Of course Shkodra will get better but seems to me that the old town is starting to dissapear in the midst of all these constructions that have no appeal whatsoever to me.
Dont just built, built something worth looking at.

Acctually Prizren is/was small compared to Shkoder.
Shkoder is one of the oldest cities in Europe and it was a villayet back in the day.
It had the largest market in the Balkans and was the biggest and most important cultural and economic city in albanian inhabited lands.
Its population today as a whole could be around 200.000 inhabitants so it's not really that small

There's no way Prizren is bigger than Durres.
Durres is 350.000 people, double the size of Prizren in population.

The city of Durres itself is 220.000 people and the whole District is well over 300.000 according to the World Bank

You are comparing Prizren with second largest city in Albania and just by the numbers if Prizren is the second city in Kosovo it cannot be larger than Durres since Albania has a bigger population than Kosovo and not only that but Durres ia the biggest tourist destination in all the country whereas Prizren, well no

Durres population as of 2001 was 183.000 inhabitants

That was almost 5 years ago, World Bank link mentioned it as 220.000 inhabitants (2005) which makes a whole lot of sense considering the growth Tirana has expierenced in the same time period.
