"Lulu Hypermarket opening in the Philippines"

I wonder if they'll open in Okada Manila's retail area. There's a provision for a supermarket/hypermarket.

Seriously? A hypermarket inside a Casino Resort Complex is a bit bizarre. It's like having Kmart or Walmart inside MGM Grand

Since I'm living in Southern Metro Manila, what I'm looking forward to is Landers!

They will be opening in Daang Hari right next to TS Cruz Subdivision!

My wife recently got her membership and we checked out The Landers in Manila.

Familiar place since Coca Cola Femsa had their HQ there before moving To BGC and my wife works for them.

Anyway, I'll be comparing it to S&R and I like the selections in Landers!

And I also like the food there and to me, the food in Landers is better than S&R!

I think some top employees of S & R were pirated by landers before they even opened their first branch..:)

Hard to say though S&R has advantages when it comes to location. Landers are in odd locations say near Pandacan, Balintawak.

The one in Alabang is favorable!

For now, It's S&R VS. Landers.

Before there was Makro but it failed! Uniwide as well but they did not progress!

Another advantage of Landers is it has a gasoline station courtesy of Caltex and members have discount!
Yaman ng owners ng Quantum Amusement, known as the largest arcade franchise in the Philippines. Their subsidiary actually owns the Philippine franchise of the 155-year old Tsujiri Matcha (with branches at S Maison MoA and soon, Podium). Similar strategy lang ito with CMG group (known for bags) getting the Philippine franchise of Peperoni Pizzeria. Both industries do not have much experience in food service before, but the PH franchise of Tsujiri fared well since its opening (4.9/5 ang score sa Zomato). Mararamdaman ko mayroon na mga non-food industries na gusto pasukin ang food industry due to market trends.

And the interior design of Landers is more upscale and the display items are more organised and aisles wider and easier to navigate. You dont feel like you’re shopping in a membership-only club, a complete departure from the usual drab and chaotic S&R and a few other similar clubs before.

They also have nicer and more varied product choices. Its always a joy to shop at Landers. No wonder then if S&R will soon be losing its members except in cities where there’s no competition.

After it opened its first store in Southeast Asia on 2009, Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has now the most stores in the Philippines in Southeast Asia.

Philippines - 44
Malaysia - 42
Thailand - 34
Singapore - 25
Indonesia- 13

S&R still has the location advantage such as the one in BGC!

But again, Landers also has the advantage when it comes to food and other features such as a barber shop and of course gasoline!

I like Lander's food options hehehe ^^

Well mukhang in the next few years tayo na ang may pinakamaraming H&M sa Southeast Asia. Kada major mall sa Manila and even cities outside the Metro may H&M store.

In other news, the Davao-based Dennis Uy (owner of Phoenix Petroleum) offered its intent to purchase the Philippine franchise of FamilyMart from the Ayalas. If it happens, mukhang magkakaroon na ng familymart sa Phoenix Petroleum outlets nationwide

But seriously, sana magmura na yung prices ng products diyan, medyo mahal talaga at this point.

Dennis Uy's Phoenix Petroleum inks deal to buy FamilyMart

MANILA, Philippines – Dennis Uy-led Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Incorporated announced a deal to acquire the Philippine unit of convenience store chain FamilyMart from Ayala Land Incorporated and SSI Group Incorporated.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday, October 30, Phoenix Petroleum said that "a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on October 30, 2017 between Phoenix Petroleum and SIAL CVS Retailers, Incorporated FamilyMart Company Ltd, and Itochu Corporation, for the planned 100% acquisition of Philippine FamilyMart."

baka irerebrand sia ng new management at gagawing mas pang masa. Karamihan talaga ng JVs hindi nagtatagal..

Aside from being overpriced, the serving of their foods is really quite insulting! Daig mo pang nabiktima ng budol-budol! :eek:hno:

Perhaps, slightly decreasing the prices of their foods and items is the only way to compete against other kombinis in the country.

I don't know where to share this, but Familymart Philippines has been bought by Davao based businessman Dennis Uy, owner of Phoenix Petroleum.....I'm sensing future Phoenix Gas Stations with Familymart as their stores :)

is SM's Alfamart pricing their products almost identical to their supermarkets? I think their prices are quite cheaper compared to other convenience stores with higher prices compared to your usual grocery.
This is what some of us here have been saying for quite some time. :eek:hno:

Cebu in state of mall overload

CEBU, Philippines — “Cebu is in a state of shopping mall overload.”

This according to a property analyst who said that with the many commercial strips sprouting in every neighborhood, there is now an oversupply of shopping malls in Cebu.

He added that with glut, investments on shopping developments may no longer be feasible in the short term.
