SHOPPING MALL Experiences | Klang Valley ( Greater Kuala Lumpur & surroundings )

I find shopping mall experience a very important and essential part of our lives in Klang Valley (KV). Information relating to all shopping malls in KV is important as it can help to enhance good experiences and avoid bad experiences.

I hope this thread will become a useful one for all who concern the said subject matters and are willing to help all KV shoppers to become better and smart consumers. Kindly share your unique experiences.

I'm a Damansara resident and have been doing shopping mostly in One Utama (1U) and IPC and the Curve. Friday shopping in the Damansara area was quite bad as parking is a problem, so today I decided to go to Mid Valley (MV). However, MV is just as bad as far as parking is concerned on Friday. Fortunately, MV has the electronic signage to show the number of parking bays left while 1U would not have the provision (at least not yet). So I decided to go to Tropicana City Mall (TCM) where I considered an expensive mall for parking (my past experience) but this time I found that it is cheaper than 1U as it costs only RM1 for the first 4 hours while 1U will cost RM2 (unless you use One Card; if you go to 1U often apply for one) for the same period. I had a good experience today at TCM and will plan to shop there again soon. I spent more than RM200 there this afternoon. I must declare that I don't work for TCM nor holding any share of TCM. I wish all of you a happy shopping experience in KV.

Your sharing on shopping in KV is appreciated. I look forward to learning from all of you.

So far we have shared on issues/information relating to parking, dining, special offers and preference of shopping mall experience. I look forward to read your experience shared in this thread. Experience can be very subjective and thus basically there is no right or wrong experience. Imoportant thing is that we may be able to avoid the bad ones and learn from the good ones. Thanks for sharing.

I think every mall in KV is just the same.. The same tenants are found in every single mall you visit so there's no difference in terms of shopping experience. The difference might be in terms of getting to the mall. I rarely go to 1U and The Curve due to lack of train transportation.

Suria KLCC remains my top choice and Avenue K is where I usually park my car if I'm driving. Easy access, plenty of choices (Isetan and Parkson) and Kinokuniya (MAJOR attraction for me, even better than Borders).

I heard that TCM has 9 theater halls so it is quite okay as [email protected] (used to call Cineleisure) has 10 halls only. 1U will have 25 halls soon, at present it has 13 halls. Cinema experience is an important part of shopping mall experience too.:cheers2:

I love KL Suria as it is a premier mall (first class and world class). Only that the parking fees is so high there. I remembered I went with my family for a concert at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas last year and I parked my car at the KLCC car park. And when I left the parking fees was over RM14 and the machine even accept RM50 but returned with RM35 plus in coins with most, if not all, in 50 sen coin. I still have these 50sen coins with me.:dizzy::gaah::eek:mg:

Take a picture of where you park your car when you are in a big shopping mall as it will refresh your memory of the where about of your car and/or you can ask for help with reference. Please share your shopping tips to enhance KV shoppers' and consumers' shopping experience.;)

I bought a Nokia handphone last year and the phone had some problem in the first month with the touch pad but the receptionist of Nokia Service Center at One Utama said it would take up to 2-3 weeks to fix the problem. Since it is a small problem and I needed the phone at that time so I did not send for repair at that time. I brought the receipt for the service the first time, the receptionist said it is not needed as the computer has my record about when I bought the phone.
When the phone warranty is about to expire I sent the phone to fix the problem again, they viewed the computer and said that the warranty as recorded in the computer had expired and thus I had to pay for the service which was about RM120 and refuse to fix it without the receipt of purchase if I disagree to pay for the repair. I did not bring the receipt since I thought they have the record of the purchase in the computer and fortunately I did not throw away the receipt. So I have to go home and get the receipt to prove the date of purchase and was able to wave the charges of repair. But I had to make another trip to One Utama.:bash:

Always keep your receipts for future references, at least before the warranty is expired.

Sorry, I don't read Malay well as I spent about near half of my life overseas. I used google translation and it read JAP boy hang your life in Pavilion. Is it right? Terrible? JAP boy? Japanese boy? Did you report to police? When did it happen?

Sorry to hear that.:uh::sad2::eek:

Okay, thanks. I thought he was attacked by Jap boy at the Pavilion.
hmm, not really into fashion, more on gadget, so my preferred mall is lowyat n sg wang, mostly i do lepak at pavillion for coffee and movie, my office is near there, so i don't really pay for parking. went to klcc onces a week for friday prayer. not really in the mood for mall food rite now, so currently, trying to find hideaway street food, tepi kilang, bawah pokok, belakang lorong

well, thats all, most of my shopping and entertainment tak kira cloth, haircut, car services and other stuff, i did in melaka when i balik kampung.. same thing but a whole lot cheaper

That is what I am doing as well.

Couple of years ago I forgot where I parked my car at Suria KLCC's basement carpark. Took me an hour to browse around, up and down the basements before I gave up searching and went to the parking management's office to report my problem. And the funny part was, I found my rented car there. Parked nearby to the management's office. Since then, I would take the precaution of taking the pictures of the parking lots signage when I am at a big shopping mall.

So many tourists are giving good reviews of our Pavilion KL Mall especially the Food Republic food court.

I wished it was twice it's current size and with more brands!!

:hi:Thanks for affirming the similar parking experience:eek:kay:. By the way, if you lose your parking ticket, be sure to go to the counter and request to talk to the manager, chances are high that you will not be penalized and get a free ticket for exiting. I did that twice, once at the One Utama and another at the IPC. Hope this is useful.

One Utama has Food Republic as well. I gave it a grade of B-. Perhaps Pavilion has a better operator. I will visit Pavilion's next time to compare. Or have you got a chance to compare both?;)
