So I thought I would try to post pictures of Shoreline for the first time, starting with the only really significant project going on right now. This is the Malmo Apartments, slated to be open this summer. It's kitty corner to the future Aurora Square.

There isn't too much activity here in Shoreline right now, so I might do these updates once and a while. Thanks for looking!

I'm liking how Shoreline is densifying. Suburban densification helps keep housing prices in check for Seattle as well.

I'm not too familiar with the long term vision for "North City" (this section of 15th Ave). It would be great if they could have ground floor retail with some mixed use buildings lining 15th Ave along this stretch to give it a more urban village feel. Is anything like this currently planned along the stretch?

Thanks for the updates!

Do any of the projects in North City have a retail component?
Great! Now if Shoreline Place could start up the Shoreline will finally have a pseudo-downtown!
Maybe, although the beef I have with this place is it's on a prominent corner on the main commercial drag through North City, but doesn't have retail. I think it's a huge missed opportunity for the future of North City's "Main Street" for this building to have omitted retail.

Refreshing to see Shoreline is taking their responsibilities of the growth management act very seriously.

That's a phenomenon that Vancouver's northern suburbs are seeing as well, despite the crazy amount of construction there. They actually are slightly losing people. It's mainly because SFHs are having less people living in them on average.

Those are all single family homes currently, right? Are developers just buying out all sfh’s there in bulk?
What’s going on with the garage doors in the third to last photo?
Oh I thought those were the new homes. They look pretty young to be demolished, but just goes to show the land value by the station I guess.

I wonder if the new Northgate NHL practice facility has drained demand for this arena. While I think its generally not a net benefit when community active use spaces like this are taken away (even for residential units) hopefully the NHL facility provides more than enough new capacity to compensate.
