Both Peninsula Tokyo and Raffles The Plaza Tokyo are on schedule to open in 2007. and the constrction site for Raffles is situated next to Hibiya ,where Peninsula Tokyo is. Which hotel will make the scene in Tokyo?

how tall will the Ritz Carlton be and is it under construction?
now under construction
the height is 248m, but Rits Carlton occupies only 45th floor to 54th floor.

BTW, Swissotel (one brand of Raffles Internation) has only one hotel in Japan (Swissotel Osaka, 2003) but they are now plannning to open Swissotel Sapporo as well as Swissotel Tokyo.

not yet. but the location is absolutely great, it's just in front of Tokyo Central Station, and is surrounded by the HQs of many giant companies.

Tokyo hotel ranking by Nikkei Trendy Journal in 2003

1. Park Hyatt Tokyo
2. Four Seasons Chinzanso Tokyo
3. Grand Hyatt Tokyo
4. Four Seasons Marunouchi Tokyo
5. Westin Tokyo

In 2007, I bet #1 would be either Peninsula or Raffles.

Raffles Group is the FIRST hotel property, which to be built/ operated at North Asia region, apart from Bangkok :) since they took Hilton Bangkok last year

Good to hear that ;)

That is quite likely going to be Tokyo's tallest isnt?!

I also remember another proposal that was about 300m.

The facade looks nice anyway :)

Sunshine Prince Hotel (not Sunshine 60 bldg) is only 130m high (37 floors), a great number of hotels in Tokyo are taller than that hotel.(Sunshine Prince Hotel is far from luxurious)

Currently Japan's tallest hotel is Yokohama Royal Park Hotel. (Landmark Tower's 52nd floor to 67th floor. Hotel's highest point is 277m)

It's in Roppongi area. The project name is Tokyo mid-town.

There, I got another hotel mixed up with Raffles the Plaza Tokyo. Sorry.
That construction site I explained about above is not for Raffles. (but for Shangri-la Hotel Tokyo , a new comer from Hong Kong, as report has it).

This is the rendering of Raffles The Plaza Hotel Tokyo.

height: 168m (higher floors are Raffles facilities).
location: adjacent site of North exit of Tokyo Central Station, and next to JR Central's Tokyo HQ)
Room :180 rooms only but all are executive suites)
