^^Like most of the threads and post of Brazilan cities, most of the highrises are apt. buildings. Thus not some rich corporaton makeing a statement so not as much money is spent to impress or to be bold. But if you see areas like the beach resorts the highrises are more eye worthy more money is spent too impress and the value of those areas reflex that.:bash:

In the 19th century few industries came to the city and in Brazil it was know as Brazilian manchester by the number of textile industries that were set in the city
Now it is still an industry city it hosts Toyota,Flextronics,Coke,and some others related to technology.
The city has a regional influence when it's about shopping,healthy and education.It hosts 2 public universities(in Brazil public universities use to be better than private colleges) and 3 strong private colleges.
