Two things:

(1) Tremendous comeback by the Dolphins.

(2) It's a shame the Dolphins have sucked so bad in recent years that a wildly improbable performance like we saw today is *required*.

What were we saying a couple of months ago about Riley returning as coach? The Heat has called an 11AM press conference to announce Riley is returning at head coach.

OMG ! What's gotten into the Dolphins ?! Throwing the ball all over the place, scoring points, beating good teams.

One gripe: Why does anyone play the 'prevent defense' ? The fins went soft while up 23-13 allowing SD to rocket down the field, setting themselves up for an onside kick recovery, which Miami fortuantely recovered. Play to the whistle man.

Now that they know they wont make the playoffs (the Patriots would have to lose every game and the Dolphins win every game from here on out) they can win a few games to make sure they don't get a good draft pick. Typical Dolphins.

Of course, we were told that Pat Van Gundy resigned but we all know that he was forced to. Pat Riley wants to coach shaq and wade and ultimately take this team to the finals.

ooohhhhh k, what an ass kickin the caines got. LSU 40 Miami 3. Miami only got 6 first down and was 8% on third down conversion. I would say they were outplayed. LSU only had to punt once in the entire game and then scored on 8 straight drives. They rolled up 468 yards total. After the game players got in a fight in the tunnel...what a great way to cap off such a strong performance.

Yeah, totally unacceptable. At last count, Coach Coker has canned 5 assistant coaches, I've haven't been glued to the news, but there may be a few more cannings/canings.

art kehoe was the man... coker will regret that, he was one hell of a coach... went to a clinic at UM once and he was just the man... dont really know shit about any of the other guys, but at least coker is making a change, cause this team definetly was not heading in the right direction, and something has to be done about recruiting, cause its just been downhill ever since coker took over, and now the coaches that had connections with high school all around south and the rest of florida are gone...

And to add insult to the injury, two Canes players were knocked unconcious in the postgame fracas. Total beatdown.

Anyone know why there is a thread in the midwest forum about the Marlins moving to Indianapolis?

because they want to feel important..and the only way they ever get mentioned is if sports are involved..so one forummer thought it'd be cute if he started a thread named indianapolis marlins, although no one has even considered them in the running..there a longshot by about a mile, lol.

also i was quite annoyed when i learned that indianapolis will be getting the US's 3rd conrad hotel, talk about ruining the name brand, only miami and nyc have one now, soon to be joined by lv,ind, and maybe chicago

adding vegas and chicago i can understand... but indianapolis? they must not have a single luxury hotel in the entire city or something and there must be a huge void to fill, theres gotta be some reason for this

ive already told people, the marlins arent going anywhere, for sheer fear of the riots that would ensue amongst miami's old cuban guy community... granted they would be slow moving and complain alot, but they would light some old piles of leaves on fire in little havana with their cigars...

If Miami is going to try and keep the Marlins, why do they continue to bicker among themselves and make no progress on a new stadium?

The Hialeah Marlins?

MARLINS STADIUMMarlins, Hialeah to talk about parkThe Florida Marlins have arranged a meeting with Hialeah's mayor to discuss building a stadium in the city.BY BARRY JACKSON REBECCA DELLAGLORIA AND ROBERT L. [email protected]

The Hialeah Marlins?

The Florida Marlins and Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina will meet next week to discuss the possibility of building a baseball stadium in the city, Robaina confirmed Wednesday night.

Robaina said Marlins representatives arranged the meeting. He mentioned three possible sites for a ballpark: Hialeah Park racetrack; an area west of Interstate 75 -- both privately owned; and Amelia Earhart Park, which is Miami-Dade property.

''Is it a long shot? I'm not looking at it as a long shot,'' Robaina said. ``I want to do everything possible to keep the Marlins in South Florida. I've been approached by residents and people in the community who have reached out to me.''

The Marlins confirmed next week's meeting but declined to comment further.
Not everyone in Hialeah is convinced the fledgling courtship is likely to turn into a committed relationship, however.

Hialeah Council President Esteban ''Steve'' Bovo said that while he would like to see the Marlins come to Hialeah, he wouldn't be surprised if Florida'a fifthlargest city was being used as a pawn in the club's quest for a permanent home.

''If the Marlins want to come to Hialeah, I will be the first guy cheerleading for this cause,'' Bovo said. But, ``I wouldn't put it past the Marlins to be using the city of Hialeah as a ploy to get the city of Miami moving on this issue, or somebody else.''

Alejandro Miyar, press secretary to Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, declined to comment.

In November, talks between Miami city officials and Marlins representatives formally fell through when the team announced it had received permission from Major League Baseball to talk to other cities about possible relocation. Team executives have already visited Portland, Ore., and San Antonio, Texas; other interested markets include Las Vegas, Charlotte, N.C., Monterrey, Mexico, and northern New Jersey.

The team also has been negotiating to build a stadium on Wayne Huizenga-owned land next to Dolphins Stadium, but those talks have stalled.
The project would cost more than $400 million, but the parties are believed to be about $80 million apart.

Until the Montreal Expos moved to the nation's capital and became the Washington Nationals last season, no Major League Baseball team had changed markets in 33 years.

The Marlins are committed to playing at Dolphins Stadium through the 2007 season but have said they won't stay beyond 2010.

Robaina said the Hialeah council would have the power to add a ballot item asking the city's voters if they want to contribute toward stadium financing.
''It's definitely an option,'' Robaina said, adding he would review any proposal before deciding whether to support it.

Robaina said in a 1999 straw ballot, 57 percent of voters said they would support trying to build a baseball stadium in Hialeah.
Council president Bovo works as an asset manager for the Brunetti Organization, whose principal, John Brunetti, owns Hialeah Park. Bovo said Wednesday he had not heard from his boss that the racetrack was being considered as a possible site for the stadium.

Aside from being privately owned, Bovo pointed out another obstacle with Hialeah Park as a potential site: Much of the storied racetrack is listed on the National Register for Historic Places, which protects it from renovations.
Miami Herald staff writer Michael Vasquez contributed to this report.

Yeah the city of Miami would hate to see the Marlins stay close but not get any of their profits. This will not happen and is just a ploy to get Miami moving.
