I was reading todays paper (TSV Bulletin) to find an article about recent projects happening in south TSV and Palmer Street. These include:

-112 unit, 12 storey apartment complex on corner off Palmer and Dibbs street.

-Seven Storey Four star hotel at 7 Palmer street.
-61 unit, 8 storey project on the TMBYC.
-48 Unit, 9 storey complex on the former crown hotel site at 56-57 palmer.
-A 35 unit and office complex at 12 morehead street.
-A ten storey Apartment complex next to the Transit centre.

-and a 12 unit multistorey project a Mcilwrath street,

Go ahead and give your opinion on these. You don't have to be from Townsville. :)

I hadn't heard anything about the 35 unit & office complex at 12-18 Morehead St until today - sounds interesting although its a weird place to be building offices. Maybe a nice mixed use tower! although being across 4 blocks it probably wont be highrise. Have to check it out tomorrow, see if a DA sign is up.

As for the others.

-112 unit, 12 storey apartment complex on corner off Palmer and Dibbs street
this is PJ Group Tower (last I heard it was only 104 apartments)

-Seven Storey Four star hotel at 7 Palmer street.
Hotel Ibis proposed by Thomson Property

-61 unit, 8 storey project on the TMBYC.
Nautica

-48 Unit, 9 storey complex on the former crown hotel site at 56-57 palmer.
Currently in Planning & Env Court

-A ten storey Apartment complex next to the Transit centre.
must be 37 Palmer St (9 storeys)

-and a 12 unit multistorey project a Mcilwrath street,
I think thats the 4 storey Mariners South

The Ibis hotel must be part of a Northern Accor Hotels expansion. As they're also building the Mercure in Mackay.

Actually it seems the Australian Hotel is not heritage listed - its on the TCC local heritage register but not the Qld Heritage Register (which I think is the only legally binding one) - maybe they will knock it down??

37-43 Palmer St is 32 apartments & last I heard Crown Hotel was 56 - has it changed?

I've been trying to find a website for Thompson Property for ages but they don't seems to have one???

I dont Think there is a website for TPG. I too have been looking up the web for one. I think it has just quietly, Crown Hotel. The TCC Heritage roster is just a collection of buildings that are of heritage value.

Actually, an Idea popped into my head.
Juniper should keep it and develop it but call it the Sea Temple Hotel, not resort but just avertise it under their Sea Temple Chain.

The new look Solarus is looking really good, and not only is it looking good, its also going to be 12 stories, theres a render in the paper today in the investor guide.

They (Glen Alpine) are also going to hold an information session from 5:30pm-7:30pm on Moday the 24th of October on Palmer street there.

Gee, I'm still thinking of Castle Towers in Castle Hill, Sydney. I lived there for a number of years while I was based at RAAF Richmond in my airforce days. That's a damm good shopping centre. One of the best in Australia. I wish Castletown was like that.
Yea there was a render that looked similar. I'll go have another look and compare the two.

I reckon, with the Castletown development, they should put another floor on top, if not, just a small Mezzinine thing with Cinemas or so on top. But however, with the new Extension of Target and Woolcock Entrances, And now the Buy Up, Castletown may be good with just one floor.

I'm waiting on something good from the Dimmies site. I can envisage at least 5 levels of shopping centre topped by a hotel and a tower of apartments.
I have a new thread in this sub forum that Talks about Future Retail fantasies for Townsville, You should put something up as your future retail dream for Townsville.
But yeah, It'll be great to see a very decent shopping centre here, Rochampton Fair is two stories isn't it.
