Malaysia = Metro Johor Bahru (sometimes Metro Penang)

Since 2007, Metro JB is now more commonly referred as Iskandar Malaysia. In general, the state of Johor is economically VERY IMPORTANT to Malaysia due to its proximity to Singapore, the entreport of the world. Will showcase tourism areas, industrial parks and economic vibrancy of Johor Bahru later.

The city has big plans to develop several iconic supertall buildings including the JB Twin Towers.

(Like Penang), the city is an important industrial, tourism and commercial hub for southern Malaysia and one of the biggest industrial centers of the country.

Would love to see Chiang Mai or Hatyai, Bandung or Medan, Davao City, Haiphong, etc. These cities are potentially new urban areas and future economic driver of the nation.

Metro Johor Bahru is Malaysia's third largest conurbation, assuming Metro Penang is second place.

Some say "third largest city" in Singapore is Jurong.

haha, maybe it's a so called "third largest" town. Singapore itself is one city, there is no official second or third city, only many small suburban towns which are all equally developed. :)

Vung tau city

Population: 250,000

it's not really a third city ,because it has the biggest GDP only after SG , but its only behind HN in term of population ,infractures and developments because HN is the capital . VT is very important to the overall GDP of VN , because its contribute the second biggest gdp from oil idustries. A very rich and famous company in VN - PetroVietnam is also from VT. VT is also a tourism city because of beautiful beaches , resorts, shoppings...

It is the capital of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, and is the crude oil extraction center of Vietnam. It is also known as one of the most beautiful cities of tourism in Vietnam. Locating near Ho Chi Minh city and Binh Duong province, Vungtau associates with these two places to create a triangle of power economy all over the country.Vũng Tàu is the only petroleum base of Vietnam where crude oil and natural gas exploitation activities dominate the city's economy and contribute principal income to Vietnam's budget and export volume.

VT's villas + expensive houses near to the beach.

Many hotels, casinos, shopping centers are being built in this city

Vung Tau is very beautiful, love this city so much! Btw, I am curious about the religious demographic of this city. Are there many Catholics in this city? According to Wikipedia, Buddhism is the largest religion in Vung Tau. But the landmark for this city is Christ Statue, hmm...

^^and you will be surprised. Even their 4th or even 5th can still surpass Cebu. Coz those countries have even distribution of wealth unlike in the Philippines, politicians only consider Manila as everything, outside Manila is nothing. Since the time of former dictator president marcos, Cebu was being set aside resulting Cebu to strive hard for it to become indipendent interms of financial support from the national government. Even that time when Cebu was hit by a supertyphoon, Cebuanos didn't even receive even half of the supposed financial help from the national government but instead Cebuanos just picked up of what's left from the devastation and rebuilt everything. Even the hosting of the ASEAN summit last 2006. Politicians from Manila questioned the president of why the summit will be held in Cebu and why not in Manila where everything is complete! huh :eek:hno: it's all about unfair treatment that's why we're here at the bottom but we will still do everything to accomplish our dream to be one of the best city and island in Asia...:eek:kay:

^^ Well then, Cebu must prove Manila wrong and make them eat their words. From the pics I've seen, I would say Cebu is progressing pretty well if the situation is still as Manila-centric as u mentioned....

We talk about the Philippines here coz the Philippines is still part of SEA... why?, you don't want to hear or read something about the Philippines? being too many SSC Filipinos posting in this forum or this particular thread is not a violation so just sit back and relaks amigo...:eek:kay:

That's why most Cebuanos wants our current Republic form of government to be changed as Federal form of government same as of Malaysia. It would benefit Cebu as high percentage of its income will be used to improve Cebu's infra WHILE in this current government set up, only a fraction of Cebu's income will return back to Cebu (most will be poured in Manila), not enough for its growing economy.
