Watching this spectacular SpaceX Falcon 9 launch in California and thinking this is just the kind of thing we could look forward to if we actually get our spaceport.

Interview with a player in Scotland's space industry, includes mention of at least two spaceports.

First rocket launchpad in the UK in half a century now under construction in Kinloss, due for delivery in early 2022.

It's designed to test the Orbex Prime rocket that will be used to send satellites weighing around 150 kg into orbit.

2022 expected to be the start of a new era in British space industry, with Shetland, Sutherland, Campbeltown, Prestwick, North Uist, Cornwall, Snowdonia to be bases. It says the Sutherland space port will be used to launch the Orbex rocket, but then so does the article above about Kinloss. Maybe they'll be using both sites?

Construction on Shetland spaceport could begin this month, with first launch as early as September, pending a couple of hurdles to clear.

Cornwall to be first UK site to send satellites into orbit via Virgin Orbit mission. Launch expected over winter, depending on whether they get the paperwork signed off by the CAA.

Virgin Orbit is launching a rocket carrying satellites tonight from a Boeing 747 flying out from their base in Cornwall. Sites in Sutherland and Shetland expected to launch their own rockets by the end of this year.

The UK is seen as having a conservative regulatory environment that is toxic to the fledgling industry.
