This was the brain child of his Late Majesty, King Tupou V. He envisaged a landmark government building to combine and bring the ministerial offices under one roof. The design and location symbolise the roles of the Government and the Crown in partnership to govern Tonga. This is achieved with the new building sitting directly opposite the Royal Palace in Nuku'alofa and mimicking key features such as central located tower and dome.
