A very dear friend of my family, Munevera Babic, married a Canadian peacekeeper. Together, they moved to St. John's - the capital of Canada's "Newfoundland and Labrador" province.

I've visited twice and can truly say it is one of my favorite towns in the world. The architecture is simple, but interesting; the nightlife is amazing! The people are exceptionally friendly. I had been in the city for only a few days when the Priest at a local Church heard I was visiting and invited me to speak to his congregation.

We never ate dinner at home a single night; each day we met someone who invited us to dine at their home. It is one of the most welcoming, friendly places I have ever been.

These pictures were taken in the summer of 2000, by me, using what is possibly the oldest camera in the world. The pictures that look as though I'm out at sea are actually taken from land - the shape of the harbor is amazing, it has only the smallest entrance to the sea.

George Street. More than 100 bars all on one street - heaven on earth:
