The most precious historical building in Western and Middle Pomerania, it is also the most beautiful brick Gothic church in Poland. It inspired the architects of numerous buildings in at least three countries. Construction work started in 1292 and the present shape was first formed at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The two-tower basilica with the chapel crown in the choir corridor. Hanseatic type town cathedral which may be seen only in the biggest Baltic cities. Lace-like, ceramic ornamentation of the facade; original tower interior, so-called “stargardzka blenda”, a unique triphore gallery in the presbytery increase the artistic value of the building. The interior after huge devastation is poorer: the altar from 1663, wall paintings (15th – 18th centuries), epitaphs, altars, chapel portals (18th century), stained-glass windows (19th – 20th centuries).
