Plans in for StayCity’s fourth Manchester aparthotel

A planning application has been submitted by developer Catalyst Capital for a nine-storey aparthotel in Manchester’s New Cross, due to be operated by StayCity.

Designed by SimpsonHaugh, the building on a site bounded by Mason Street, Cable Street, and Cross Keys Street will include 224 bedrooms.

The plot currently houses a surface car park. Alongside SimpsonHaugh, the professional team also includes How as planning consultant.

It will be StayCity’s fourth hotel in the city. It currently operates two aparthotels: one at Laystall Street in Ancoats, and another at Gateway House on Piccadilly Approach. Gateway House opened in May this year following an extensive refurbishment by contractor Marshall.

The operator also plans to open a third site, a 256-room aparthotel on the upper floors of Property Alliance Group’s 3 St Peter’s Square. Main contractor Russells started work on the project this month.

Other projects backed by Catalyst Capital in Manchester include the refurbishment of Arkwright House into 100,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, completed by Vinci last month.

The developer has also refurbished the 24,000 sq ft office on the upper floors of 26 Cross Street.

Edit.. Can’t figure out how to post pics on my mob. Will do it tomorrow.
We need to keep our eyes peeled.

They're going to construct a cladding sample panel showing all of the elevated materials onsite.
