A place to discuss and post pictures of Stockholmshusen (the Stockholm houses) - a cooperation between the city of Stockholm, it's own municipally owned estate enterprises and private enterprises with the goal of mass producing affordable rental housing, mainly through densifying the suburbs.

Information about the Stockholmshusen project (in swedish):

Google Maps link to Bjursätragatan in Rågsved

So far only one project has been finished, in Rågsved, and it is viewable on google maps in an almost finished state. Personally I really like the idea and architecture of the project. The next project about to be finished seems to be Kvarteret Ledingen in Tensta. If anyone would have the oppurtunity to photograph that it would be much appreciated :):geek::geek::geek::)

I like the basic concept of the buildings. The implementation leave much to be desired:
They're almost 100% suburban. NOT what we need at all.
There ought to be corner buildings to put on the corners of blocks instead of those horrible negative space corners.
There ought to be retail/office/restaurant/preschool/... spaces in the ground floors as standard. Yes, in all of them. If they're built be the City (or city-owned companies) these units can be pooled into a separate entity and leased out for a price that will attract users that will make for a good community.
There ought to be variants of 4, 6, 8 and 12 floors. Not just 4 floors.
There ought to be facade variants with at least 4 or 5 materials and at least 5 or 6 colors. And maybe also 4-5 balconies? Standardized base, standardized interior, variation on the outside where it really matters!
