As this is purely transport related, I've sprung this one away from the main Stockport thread. Looks like this 200 yard stretch of road is going to be a big job. Work is just about starting.

Planning App is here http://planning.stockport.gov.uk/Pl...s.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=ZZZYGNPJTA638

Plan and some visuals out of the DAS

Final Plan

Visuals Locator

1.View from A6 side looking towards viaduct - link road to the left, cyclepath to the right

2. View looking towards viaduct from where new road diverges from current bend on Travis Brow

3. View from roughly where the Travis Brow curves now looking east up new road towards viaduct

4. Overview looking east - Ambulance station would be just off to the right

5. View looking east towards viaduct along new cycle path on left, new road to the right - looks much like the old Gt Egerton St dual carriageway did - all four lanes through one arch

As the learned representative from Prestbury would probably concur, the last render is highly reminiscent of the old Great Egerton Street dual carriageway (gobbled up over 35 years ago by the M63) - four lanes passing through a single arch (photo courtesy Dr Hugh Fay taken in 1966)

As the honourable member for Ribblesippi South, I look forward to challenging the honourable member for Prestbury to a cycle, or perchance, a mobility scooter race along the neatly incorporated cycle track.

Do they plan on changing the road priority coming down from Armoury roundabout
and passing the bus garage on right up to Heaton Lane roundabout or still sending you
round loop by Pyramid or round back of bus garage?
neither as it happens.... the as-was southbound one-way short cut Kingston Street is being reverse so only a minor diversion getting down to Heaton Lane roundabout
