Seems to be some work going on in the old John Lewis building in Tamworth, anyone have any ideas if anything is going in there?

Yes, I believe a new Aldi is going to be there from the massive rumours going around. Just what the Town needs, another Aldi. Unless maybe the Town Centre branch is closing?

IT’S ALL HAPPENING IN FAZELEY!!!

Minutes away from the Tamworth/Fazeley border, Fazeley’s old mill is getting turned into apartments. As possibly THE most exciting development in the Village since the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal was formed this is BIG news.

Will try and get some Photos when I can!

Town centre regeneration scheme moves to next phase | TheBusinessDesk.com

  • A major regeneration scheme in Stafford town centre is progressing this month with building demolition set to take place to make way for new development. Staffordshire County Council bought the former magistrates court in early 2021, adding to the former probation service buildings which were already in the council’s ownership, to support future development of the town centre site as part of the Eastgate regeneration programme. The magistrates court closed five years ago.

It will mean potential developers and future occupiers will be able to take advantage of securing a significant area of land in a prime central location. The buildings are next to each other between South Walls and Eastgate Street.

“With easy access to the train station to the south providing good services to Manchester, Birmingham and London, Hanley is the ideal place to live.”

Surely the City of Stoke on Trent wants more than to just be a glorified commuter Town? It’s far enough from Birmingham/Manchester to be a destination in it’s own right…

It probably does and is big enough to be however, in reality we have to start from a place of realism and Stoke just doesn't have much of a draw on its own. But if it can be seen as an affordable place to live with links to those places that are currently more attractive it can start a base to build on perhaps.

Council gives backing to regeneration schemes | TheBusinessDesk.com

Three interlinked regeneration programmes in Stafford will support the town’s revitalisation in the coming years and its post-pandemic recovery, the council has said.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet gave its full backing of the schemes which are being delivered with Stafford Borough Council.

Together they will bring hundreds of new homes, business development and jobs to Stafford, in addition to millions of pounds in private investment.
The schemes are Eastgate regeneration, Stafford Gateway and Future High Streets programme.

Giant housing estate planned for upmarket North Staffordshire village - Stoke-on-Trent Live (stokesentinel.co.uk)

Villagers claim a housing developer is ‘riding roughshod’ over their rural community after submitting plans for up to 200 new homes.
It is the second major housing scheme in the Baldwins Gate area to be proposed by Richborough Estates.
Back in 2015, the company won permission to build 113 properties after a planning inspector overturned Newcastle Borough Council’s original refusal.
