Hello guys !

Just sharing some pictures of my city Strasbourg, in France ! I guess most of you must know this but Strasbourg hosts European institutions such as the Parliament, Council of europe, Human Rights etc. It became a symbol of Europe's reconciliation after WWII, so in the 1950's.

It's a small city of nearly 300 000 inhabitants and more than 700 000 inhabitants for the urban area. The city has a natural border with Germany which is the Rhine river, and it was multiple times German, therefore a part of the city called "Neustadt" (the new city) was built under German empire.

Now the city center and the Neustadt are both part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites

The city is famous not only for its architecture but also for its extansive transportation network (for a city this size), 5 lines of tramway and one line of BRT, and has more than 500km of bicycle paths !

Before we start you can also check out my webesite for more pictures https://www.citiesoflights.com/ or my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Joeycitiesoflights/ :)

So let's start with the basics, the historical centre :

This picture was taken during the blue hour in a neighborhood called "La Petite France" which is famous for its canals

This one, (which was my highschool), is in the Neustadt it was built in 1902 and integrates elements from the Art Nouveau movement.

Here is a cinema in the city centre which was built in 1948 :

I'll continue later with other pictures of other parts of the city, I hope you'll like it :)

Strasbourg looks like a very pleasant city.
Glad that you feel that ! It is indeed a very nice city, on a human scale, having advantages of a big city and smaller one at the same time !
Here are some pictures of a new area that has been under construction and development the last few years. It is supposed to be the extension of the downtown, with cafes, bars, a shopping mall, a cinema, conservatory and a multimedia library. In addition the neighborhood has the first positive energy tower in world called the elithis tower ! This neighborhood was mainly industrial, after the industries moved out the buildings were abandonned, they were restored few years ago.

Here's a view on the library :

Another view on the canal, the towers, shopping mall, cinema (in the background) and library

Finally a view on the conservatory here :
