Struga is a small city located in Western Macedonia very close to the border with Albania
It used to be an albanian city back in the Ottoman times and it is still predominantly albanian populated to this day (approximately 80% albanian)
It is a very nice city with rich culture , many cultural events take place here

The river that runs through the city gives it a splendid panoramic view.
Korzo is the place where people walk during the afternoon and late-evening hours
It has nice small cafes and is a tourist attraction although not as much as Ohrid
Definitely a beautiful town. Here are a few more photos.

Now this is definately a lot better than most cities in Macedonia, too bad that it's so small. :( Nice pictures.
Struga does look quite charming, and I've actually been hoping to go there for awhile now

On another note - I'd be rather careful about creating the connotation of Struga as an Albanian city (from Ottoman times to this day). The town itself is populated mostly by ethnic Macedonians, and only last year, after the municipal boundaries were altered to include the outlying area (rural & suburbs) did the scale tip in favour of the Albanians. (There was actually a good deal of resistance to this. And if I recall correctly, some Strugans embarked upon a half-assed attempt to create an independant city-state.)
Yeah, too bad there are no Macedonians here, to set these guys straight:D

And why is that?
Because we are the majority :)

I strongly disagree
Struga is in Western Macedonia and Western Macedonia is albanian majority and it has been like this
Look at Debar (we call it Dibra) , that is mostly albanian and has always been so for centuries.
Same thing with Struga , it's the biggest loby of any albanian city in Macedonia

You should be banned
You are a big provoker and you are lucky you post behind the computer because you can get your ass kicked when you talk sh*t
Just so there is a clarification about this , i am only posting cities in Western Macedonia that are albanian majority.
I dont intend to provoke anything , i am just posting true facts as they are
Why am I the one who should be banned?:?
You are the one who's posting garbage, one photo threads with some screwed up, pulled from your butt "statistics".

In one post , you said that Albanians make up 35-40% of Macedonia, while the real number is less than 25%, according to the the recent census undertaken in that country.

The statistics are doubtful
They come from Macedonian sources from 2003
I have 3 of my best friends that come from there and they have told me that the figures of the population are corrupt big time
The best approximate number is 37%
Remember , Deputy Prime Minister and 4 ministers of the cabinet that i know of are albanian
That says it all
Well yeah, Macedonia is a democratic country, which respects the rights of its minorities.

But when will Albanian give equal rights to its million-strong Greek, Macedonian and Serbian minorities? When will they get their universeties, like Albanians have been allowed to have in Tetovo and Skopje?

I noticed that every other person you see on a Tirana street ...doesn't really look Albanian.
Ok, so whats your point anyways? YOu wish to anex these parts of Macedonia to Albania?

Good luck:cheers:

Greeks have had schools for decades
Even in communism greeks in the south had schools in their language
This is a true fact
You never see greek government complain about us mistreating their minority
They have always been respected and have been equal to the rest of the population
Same thing with the vlach minority
I dont know of any serbian minority in Albania
Do you mean montenegrin??

You are right
They come from Mars :eek2:

No
I am just noting that these cities are albanian majority populated
In fact , the whole Western Macedonia is
People might get the wrong idea that Macedonia is only macedonian

ps:I never post crap in Bosnia topics when you post serbian city photos
stop fighting or I'll have to close this like Ulcinj thread.
Football rules, can you stop with these type of threads please? It's nice and all that you share pictures, but when you say things like 'albanian in ottoman times....albanian city' that really leads to a disaster thread. It appears that you are the one who is provoking. And Nero is right, it was Macedonian majority, but because of some stupid local boundaries, it isn't anymore. And about Debar, go read Black Lamb and Gray Falcon by Rebecca West, the Macedonian part.

Meanwhile, i'll gladly share some pictures of Struga when i find some.
Pictures are nice, but comments wroten by author are provocations. I don't have anything against Albania or Slavic Macedonia, but I can understand how would a Slavic Macedonian feel while reading this.

Cheers,
-Pavle

You say provocation but yet you know nothing about Struga or Macedonia for that matter
How do you come to conclusion that a city like Struga who is majority albanian with an albanian mayor is provocation?
This is where confusion starts when you say how do slavic macedonians feel about the comments
Maybe the comments were unnecessary but they are not provocations
