Second part of my suburban London pictures. These are taken a couple of months ago and show Kingston Upon Thames and New Malden.

New Malden

The old good New Malden. One of the main streets

New Malden fountain

Beginning of the New Malden highstreet, its appearance has changed, renovation is underway

One of the buildings in the highstreet

The highstreet

One of numerous Korean restaurants in Burlington Avenue

Random street shot

Bus Stop

Houses... love this style :)

A rather typical front yard

Another Korean restaurant

One more

Kingston Road towards Kingston center which is about half hour walk from the center of New Malden

And a few random shots from New Malden

Kingston Upon Thames. Must be one of the nicest suburban areas in the whole Greater London.

A few "commieblocks" sticking out in Norbiton (small area as a part of Kingston), "Norbiton skyscrapers" I call them :D. Not really wise to build 3-4 16 storey commieblocks in the middle of suburban sea of 2 storey private houses :|

A very typical street

Getting close to Kingston center

Some small church in Kingston

Kingston center

Kingston highstreet

Random shots of Kingston center

Kingston riverfront seen from Kingston Bridge

Kingston bridge

For the end... :)

hope you enjoyed this little tour :)

omg in Pic #10, that Volkswagen Golf is the same exact car i have, i know this may sound dumb, but there were only 5000 of that kind made and i have one, it is such a rarity to see another one, this just made my day :)
Thank you for a tour of some wonderful, if wholly underrated, English architecture.
I've been following all your London threads, and I must say your photos are really awesome. Thanks for the tour.
Great pics , as usual:)
Kingston center looks very lively...whats the population of this town, or suburb of London?

Why is it so special? :dunno:

great pics John. Is there Serbian town like this in London?
@KM
It's one of the boroughs of Greater London, although it looks like a typical suburban town anywhere in Southern England, population is about 150,000 :)

@Singidunum
I don't think so, at least I don't know. I don't think it is common that there are "towns" of any Eastern European immigrants (even though there are many of them, not sure but I think there should be at least 50,000 Lithuanian immigrants in London, even more Polish). I believe it has something to do with traditions and mentality of peope, e.g. Koreans are keeping together and mostly interact only with each other (some even after spending a few years in the UK hardly can speak English. Not because they don't want but because they don't need it), they form a separate community and don't go much outside of it unlike European (either Eastern or Western) immigrants which can be found anywhere. Though I have to note that it must be one of the nicest and most pleasant immigrant communities in the UK what makes this area unique and pleasant :)
Singidunum

As far as i know, there is a sizeable Serbian community in Shepherd's Bush area, which is just north of Hammersmith (Zone 2).
There are several Serbian shops in this area and thats where i go to get Thomy mayo and Knjaz Milos Mineral water

I have noticed that unlike other communities (Polish is a prime example), we tend to integrate into the society and disperse.
Where i live, there are a lot of recent Polish immigrants and you can always see them banded together, in large groups, going to get drunk or something. :drunk:
What kind of a name is this? Unoriginal

BTW, great pictures John!
^^^
What's wrong with the name? :|
That's a Korean name and it sound normally as for a Korean name ;)
The funniest one i've seen was in Chelsea, it is a Vietnamese restaurant and it is called 'Phat Phuck'

LOL that's a good one :hilarious
Nice pics,

i lived for 4 months in London...what i dont like about english architecture is that most houses are made with bricks...and that you have many streets with all the same houses...it is like everybody would have the same look :eek:hno:

Are you a vdub fan too? You have the R32 don't you? If so, you're the luckiest guy ever ;) I have a Jetta from 1987, 1.8 8v, manual of course ;) Btw, did you know about www.vwvortex.com? They have amazing forums as well. Definately worth a look.

About the pics. I would die to live here.
