I havn´t started photothreads for a while, so now it´s time to. During winter Helsinki is often grey, silent and boring little city, but now summer is taking over. Everything looks so colorfull and warm, birds are singin and people are chilling in cafes and parks. I love spring! :)

FAQ:

Photographer: me
Photos taken: April, May, 2005
Place: Helsinki
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 4800

Without the flag this could be from St. Petersburg.. ;)

Helsinki archipelago

Same again, I took this pic when I was going to Suomenlinna island.
Not so big city urban feeling.. ;)

And now something more urban

Bikes, bikes and bikes

Trying something new

Flover stall

Tram and the Central Railway Station

Inside the Central Station

And I went to Hotel Torni, which is 12 floorer ''high-rise''. I asked politely for a permission to got to the top floor.

View from Torni´s skybar is not bad!

Traffic lights, as you maybe notice.. ;)

No Helsinki without this church!

Thanks for your attention! I´d like to have some feedback and if you have something else to say than really cool pics!!!!, don´t be afraid to say it! ;)

I suppose you want criticism like at Talo? :)

Works, fresh perspective.

Usual, relaxing stuff. Good for "showing the city". I like the last pic more.

Somehow reminds me of reportages in magazines like Suomen Kuvalehti or Helsingin Sanomien kuukausiliite.

Nice idea, but I think another perspective would've suited better. (I would've preferred to see more bikes at the back, or more dramatic angle)

Works!

Great composition. You took the picture at the exact right moment.

Nice from technical perspective!

Bit tight composition, not enough room.

Also, minor addition: I think the title is bit misleading, these weren't all that "summery" photos, IMHO. :)

(Those who wonder why I'm so "critical", Talo forumers decided that we should rather give fair and honest critique to each other's photos, instead of simple praise. ;))

Thanks for comments! :) As Oberleutnant said, I wanted to get also honest comments, criticism is not forbidden. ;)

Then I failed a bit. Especially yesterday it was very warm (over 20') and the feeling was just so summerish.

And now few more, I took these today:

View from the Linnanmäki hill - I didn't crash it! ;)

Cranes of Kamppi and the tower of Finnish national museum.

And now at the top of Stadionintorni tower - view to south
(Last winter I took night pic of this same view )

Downtown Helsinki and "old skyline"; the gothic church of Johanneksenkirkko and Hotelli Torni
You can also see the Baltic sea back there.

Kallio district's skyline.. ;)

Three churches - one orthodox and two lutheral ones.

Nice pics, although some seem a bit too saturated (or maybe it's just me).

It's not just you, I like to saturate images and I have also vivid color-mode in my camera.

Whew! I'm so glad you hadn't returned home just yet, endavant!. I was afraid that all you would get to experience would be cold winter and spring. :)

Nice pics ;). Ok, I`ll comment second part of your thread. Broken beer bottle
and a panorama is a nice composition. Actually I`d prefer when city would be more visible in the background. Cool areals. Imo saturated pics look cool, because buildings look more colourful (haven`t used it myself though).

yeah...not yet, I only have one week left! :(

These months I've been taking lots of pictures of Helsinki so I guess I'll make some thread, anyway they're not as good as the ones here!
