whats everyones opinions on the Stadium Of Light, Sunderland AFC? its amazing to think that despite sunderland having only 12pts and being bottom of the premiership they have still averaged over 34,000 this season. They was 45,000 there for last mondays game also.

Nice enough ground. Will look better if they ever get round to adding the extra tier to the other two sides which is unlikely to happen in the near future.

File alongside Riverside Stadium, Pride Park, Walkers Stadium, St Mary's Stadium and all the other inspid, unimaginative and bland shite that got built in England over the last 15 years.

Pretty decent stadium, will look much better though when they get round to expanding the stadium capacity with a complete top tier. It's a shame its not gonna be in the Premiership next season.

I think its amazing that a team playing in what is supposedly the worlds best league can only get an average attendance of 34,000.

Looks unfinished and could've done with a video replay screen and a translucent roof as it looks rather dark in the upper deck.

Will become a very nice stadium IF they ever finish it.

It would be much better if the second 'tier' is finished all around the field, not just one length and one width.

yes but they won't be able to fill it at the moment, so there is no need.

It really is a cheap & very ugly looking stadium, at least from the outside.
no one really gives a damn bout the outside, look at da luz in lisbon; exterior is crap but the interior makes up for it.

yep, the stadium of light was on the list of the england 2006 team, dissolved by blatter, he chose some country on the continent, just across the dutch border.
if sunderland maintaned the results they used to have around the year 2000.
the capacity would have gone up to 55,000 or even to over 60,000. In 2001, I can remember, SUnderland got an attendance of 48,000 against.... Bradford...can you believe it. :runaway:

sunderland have just gotten an attendance of 45,000 last monday. they regularly got 48,000 during the season 00/01 and 01/02 up untill they got relegated in 2003. since then supporters have been unhappy and wont return untill owner bob murray has left the club.

Ok.
Its a small football club in a small city.It doesn't have much of a fanbase outside of Sunderland itself so its actually pretty amazing considering all of those points that they can get an average of 34,000.And also thats an average. On big games they will get full attendance or 45,000.etc.etc.
I love it to be honest and it looks great from the river wier.
