OFFICIAL RENDER:

Wilkinson Eyre developed the design for this 460m mixed-use tower as part of an invited international design competition. The tower will become a new icon in the science and technology district of Suzhou, in the Yangtze Delta area of China. The 3.5 million sqft tower will have 110 storeys and provide retail leisure, conferencing, office and residential space, as well as a luxury hotel and a series of viewing decks and sky gardens. The towers is organized as a series of horizontal strata with observation deck and sky lobby gardens, hotel balconies, office sky gardens, outdoor terraces and balconies at the podium, and a canal-oriented plaza at the base. Podium and tower levels are fused, presenting seamless transition of from through curvilinear lower floors, circular intermediate levels and ovaloid upper floors. The design cuts energy consumption by reducing cooling and heating loads, optimizing daylight and incorporating innovative recycling and renewable energy solutions. The tip of the tower is conceived as a beacon, with wind and solar powered optical sculptures, lighting displays and a series of sky gardens which will provide a landmark statement of ecological technologies for the city.

We have been waiting for images about this project for almost 2 years. But I think it is just one of the proposals, actually KPF was supposed to be the studio designing it.

Is this tower 460m counting the spire?
However, ugly design. Hope they revise it because this one is so boring, shape and facade.

enough is enough. Not every freaking city need a 500m+ tower.

And why does Suzhou need one again? Isn't that a tourist city?

Fabulous design! :eek:kay: So the spire will be inside out?
The spire is actually suspended within the atrium if you look closely at the section. I wonder if the levitation proposals will survive Value Engineering?

Perhaps it'll be progressively jacked up to stay as the tallest tower in China? ;)
