The 14-year-old Melbourne girl boarded a Thai Airways flight to Zurich without her parents' permission last Friday, The Herlad Sun reports.

The teen's plan came unstuck when a friend alerted her mother.

The frantic mother contacted police, who alerted the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

A DFAT officer located the girl when the jet stopped over at Bangkok and put her on a flight back to Melbourne.

Thai Airways allows passengers as young as 12 to fly alone provided they supply the contact number of an appointed guardian at both ends.

But Family Council of Victoria spokesman Bill Muehlenberg said that parents would be shocked to learn their children could travel overseas so easily.

”You can see where Thai is coming from. The bottom line is they want to make money,” he said.

”They want to get passengers on planes and the looser you are that way, the more money you can make.

Pretty Impressive for her to get on an international all alone, let alone Zurich!

Typical dictatorial parents who think they "own" their daughter

If she wants to go to Switzerland, it's none of their business really

you're full of surprises aren't you lol

did your parents tell you that you weren't allowed to be gay?
If she's only 14, they still hold all legal rights over her.
**** the Family Council is stupid.

If the airline wanted to make more money, they'd force minors to travel with guardians.

For a minor making a one way trip, that's two extra fares for them (guardian return).

They also need to remember that an unaccompanied minor still needs a passport, and guess who's in control of that...
The girl provided false contact details for her parents and a made up individual in Zurich on the correct form. She's no dummie.

She is 14, are you serious or taking the piss?? Sometimes it is hard to tell on a forum, if you are taking the piss you can use these little face thingys like  or somesuch to convey your levity, or even a  can work.

If not probably best that you don't buy any later on in life Madge style.........(see there's one).

If my kid pulled a stunt like that, they would be chained to a water heater in the basement for sometime...........(and again!)
is she hot?

lawl

It's spanky. No matter how ridiculous the post may seem, he's serious.
Back in my days, my parents were the ones responsible when it came to caring me, not the government... must be different today..

And LAWL at them going on about how they only care about money. The first thing that came to my mind was geez, it must be fairly common for 14 year olds to travel alone internationally without their guardian approvals. *stabs himself with a spork*

What if she met in harms way, as a minor? At the age of 14 we are all vulnerable.

I HOPE you never become a parent.
where did she get all these money to fly?
