I too think so, that they will have single track but two way trains....they can easily cross over at the stations...the basic idea of the ring route is to cut cost of double line network.

not only old thane station area, but station road, gokhale road upto teen haat naka congested, it will be interesting to see where elevated line intersects Metro 4?

Yes Kolkata Circular Railways and Karachi Circular railway , both are ring route railways and on single track. However both are no Metro rails

The paper trail for Thane Metro has begun moving, and the construction is likely to commence in 2021, an official report has said.

Maha Metro, a 50:50 joint venture between the central and state governments, has submitted a detailed report to the Thane Municipal Corporation concerning the project.

The detailed project report (DPR) concerns a 29-km-long Metro corridor in Thane city that will comprise an elevated route for 26 km and an underground route for 3 km.

In all, 22 stations — 20 elevated and two underground stations — have been proposed under the project which entails a total investment of Rs 10,500 crore.

The construction is expected to commence in 2021 and should be complete by 2025, officials said.

The rail corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion and passenger movement to a great extent in Thane.

Maha Metro has projected a daily ridership of 5.76 lakh in 2025, 7.61 lakh by 2035 and 8.72 lakh by 2045 for the route.

IMO they are comparing Metro 4 thane section where construction yet to begin, they installed barricades........

Makes sense then. When is construction going to begin? They said 2021 2 weeks ago but now saying it will begin in 2019 itself???

2021 or even 2022 is more realistic. To give some perspective, csia extension for metor 7 was supposed to start in 2017. So was mm line 5.

Small correction: The article states, it will cross metro 4 at 3 spots, not running parallel anywhere.
