Stadiums are one of the largest man made structures. They rely heavily on artificial lighting both for their interior (the pitch) and their exterior. While interior lighting is a must, exterior lighting is not really necessary.

Exterior (shell) lighting is mostly used for advertising, image purposes. Thousands of light sources, hundreds of thousands or millions of Euros spent for this. Electricity consumption is also much higher than the interior lighting. For example, the shell light for multicolor Allianz Arena in Germany comes from 25,344 long-life fluorescent tubes with a total power of approx. 1.47 MW!

All this effort and cost is for us, the sports fans. But do we like it?

Doesn't the fact that the proposed Nou Camp upgrade is 1) just that, a proposal and 2) postponed and probably unlikely any time soon mean that it really shouldn't be in the poll?

Or is it there because it's Barcelona? The existing stadium is hideous from the outside, day or night

Your choice of stadiums is pretty random!
Especially Nou Camp, it doesn't look good at night (or even at daylight

), my "home stadium" looks even better at night than NC:

I put it in the pool because, if it is build, it will probably have the most expensive exterior lighting system ever. More details about it here:

^^ What I should have clarified is that the MCG boasts the tallest of such towers and was the first to erect such lighting towers in the stadium in 1985

Besides, they're far more imposing than Birmingham's puny light towers.
