Gothic: Its a beautiful church but the roof does not seem that high. Can you clarify what you mean by this church being third tallest to roof? Top of nave roof ridge? Floor to ceiling ht? Roof of tower?

the roof of the tower. it IS that high. every other church managed to be taller by using a spire. its 3ft taller than lincoln cathedral.

So to understand correctly, of all medieval church type towers in the UK without spires, the Boston Stump is the tallest to the pinnacle/ridgetop of the roof. Do you also count the battlements/finials in the height measurement? (I notice too the lantern with its battlements and particularly the flying buttresses have incredible structural design and detailing which must be early/mid 16thC though no doubt have been repaired/restored since.)
