I visit Emporis (I applaud them for their outstanding footage of skyscraper construction in Chicago) all the time, but I feel we're in a falsely quiet time in skyscraper construction.

A lot of buildings are completed, and a lot have just started construction. Therefore, all I am seeing is caissons, dug holes, and maybe 1 or 2 stories of steel beams. On the other end of the spectrum, there are a lot of buildings that have just been completed.

It's nice to have the pics, but I find myself impatiently waiting for some of these new construction buildings to take some kind of form--so that I don't have to keep imagining how they would look in context. I can't wait till 2-3 years from now, when many will be completed and will really fill in the downtown streetscape

Anyway, just a passing thought..

Same kind of deal down here in tampa...We're on the cusp of what will easily be our greatest highrise construction cycle (not like's there's been much before), and mostly all we get to see is cleared sites fenced off and maybe some utility work... Like, let's get on with it already!

Actually, that is what is happening. We had sort of a lull in late 2002-early 2003 as well before the next boom wave sent us through 2004 with a slew of construction. Right now there are MANY projects just breaking ground, rising out of the ground or getting ready to begin, and by the new year there will be a hell of a lot of cranes in the Skyline. No, you don't.
Why do you troll this forum? It's pretty obvious that you have a certain amount of disdian for Chicago and that's fine. Perhaps you should hang out in the NE forum with those provincial snobs from Cambridge.

Do chicago have the most in US, not counting NYC?

BTW "Trump Tower Chicago res./hotel 1,362 ft 1,131 ft 92 2008" That means this building will be tie with Two International Finance Centre, Hong Kong which is also 1,362 ft!!

after the Trump tower, in the UC list, is only half the height as the trump.
