Arbil is believed by many to be the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world and is one of the larger cities in Iraq. The city lies eighty kilometres (fifty miles) east of Mosul. In 2005, its estimated population was 990,000 inhabitants. The city is the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Impressive: particularly how the old city is separated from the rest not just by walls but also by elevation and how it's split in two parts by a large road.
Esspecially the houses and buildings at the citadel are very old... In times of danger (empires age) people escaped and went up the high citadel :)

It is absolutely a great scene, when you just enter the city. The citadel can be seen kilometers far
