My favorite Detroit skyscraper!
Albert Kahns masterpiece!
About 25% of its $10million dollar cost was spent on art and decoration!
It was recoginzed by New York Architectural Review as the 2nd most beautiful commercial structure of 1928.
A sad fact is that the seven Fisher brothers who commissioned the building had plans to add on a much larger 60 story building and another similar 28-30 story tower but this grand plan was stopped dead by the great depression the next year.

Just for fun, here is a replica built out of Lego bricks:

The person with the mike is (Detroit's) WDIV-TV Channel 4's weatherman/reporter Chuck Gaidica.

I give the Fisher building a 10/10 of course.

I do not understand why anyone would give this building less than 9 or 10.
It is possible they have not looked closely enough.

The DetroitFunk photo blog recently posted some great superzoom shots of the unique gargoyles and other architectural details of this masterpiece:

Also check out later posts of the amazing interior art!

If you haven't checked out this blog, you are in for a visual treat (although some posts concern abandonded structures).
