Does anyone know why this small site needs 15 massive pillars.
It's a lot of space taken up.

Photo from Emerging Auckland shows the facade being put in place. I think this will turn out really nice.

This is going to be a great addition.
It will be sympathetic to all the heritage in that area and its going to further enclose it, making it even more intimate.
Now if we could just do something about all those roads...

Assuming they will have some sort of a porte cochere/ pick up drop off area in front of the hotel?

Good find. I think I prefer the change to the lighter brick colour, it also matches nicely with the colour of the Britomart Station/ CPO building

Should be good when finished, but also could have been 5-6 storeys higher.

Haha not in Britomart! Everything must be in keeping with the 'low rise' character of the district.. notwithstanding there is a 180m skyscraper being built across the road....

^^This has topped out now I think. Eleven storeys is good for this location.

11 storeys is good for literally the most central spot in Auckland, also surrounded by multiple towers over 100m?
I'm not saying they should whack 50 floors there but in a City where space is a premium I don't think another 5 floors would have hurt.

^^ So much better than the bunker-like, 'low-rise' behemoth that is Westpac/EY building.
