Glad to see the front entrance of the cinema integrated into the new residential development, and to see that a cinema is being retained as part of the project. Great shame though that the original auditorium and interiors is wholly lost, the sad fate of so many great cinema/theatre auditoriums in Britain and around the world. Its a pity too that the new interiors do not include salvaged decorative elements of the cinema interiors or even hint at the former use.
One last comment - the second image shows the front which glimpses the upper part of the new project but does not show the sides of the new project extending from the sides of the cinema entrance. Its hard to think the new residential block behing the one bay deep cinema entrance is controversial, but one gets concerned when the images of the project edit out parts of the new project.
Another loss of a relatively intact 30s art deco style cinema. Very sad! Shame on Lidl too.
