What do you think have been the most culturally significant nations of the past 150 years?
What specific cultural phenomenon do certain nations have reputations for.

Think of
sports
TV
cinema
language
fashion
street style
art
dance
various form of music
food
religion
popular thought
novels
science

Aren´t you forgetting Germany with their world famous philosophers like Marx, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, Marcuse, etc?

Aren´t you forgetting Austria and one of the most influencial intellectuals Sigmund Freud?

With the rest I agree, but i would include Russia somewhere, somehow.

Yes but if the US would not have become such a powerfull country, you can be sure almost all of those who actualy learn english in non-english speaking countries would have never done it, and people should not forget Japan as well as the arabs and China, most of our basic knowledge, in mathematics, science, astronomy etc comes from those

Then if the US had not been a superpower what language would have been the world common language? I think English is at least easier to read than French.
