Reminds me of Laurel Mall. They have proposed similar plans there too. They're tearing down the big mall and turning it into a smaller outdoor mall which ironically is what Landmark mall used to be. I don't know if anyone here is old enough to remember when it was an outdoor mall with only a few shops, but that area was pretty much an upscale neighborhood. Nowadays, as people who've been to that area can attest to, it's gone downhill considerably, and the mall went down with it.
There are some exceptions to that. Tyson's in VA, Arundel Mills and ColumbiaThe era of the gigantic indoor mall is coming to a close really. It's kinda sad too for people like me who were kids of the 80s who have fond memories of hanging out at the local mall, eating at the orange julius then playing video games at the arcade and what not.
Yeah, I was there on a sunday afternoon a couple months ago and it was almost totally dead. Very few people, I could walk around in peace and quiet without having to deal with all the drama and crowds and screaming children and what not, I absolutely loved it. I wish all malls were like that.Everytime I've been to the Landmark mall, it's been pretty empty considering it's size.
I lived at the hotel there, not the Days Inn, by the KFC for a month when I first moved to the area. Great memories.that area around the landmark plaza/beauregard street has really gone downhill in the last 10-15 years.
