Those were removed from the old Llouyds building that was there before Willis if memory serves right. They'll just be shifted somewhere in between the two.

It certainly will be ground zero in terms of London architecture once all this is complete, and would be totally wasted as it is now. Let's hope that someone has a plan for it. It would be great to see it being used as a public space where people could come and sit or lie in the summer and look up in wonder around them.

Id imagine that new square's going to be a tad gloomy and windy...but its great to see this coming closer to reality.

and why would that be, exactly?

its not the worst, but hardly a great loss. the city needs space for this generations listed buildings, and the next's and so on. There cant be space for mediocrity, given how quickly its filling up from a long term perspective.

Lots of tourists go around that way because of Leadenhall market and its connection to the potter films, and then get roped into the architecture.

I guess the crown will be plonked onto that triangle that's forming.

Have to admit, makes the cheesegrater look rather bland.

This looks great, especially from the east.

The best views of the cluster as a whole are already from the east (with the gherkin in the foreground). That's be even more so the case when 22LH is built and the view from the west becomes one of a slab.

Best view point is probably from the platform of Bethnal Green overground station.
