Africa is gearing for an economic take-off to an emerging economy status. To get there it must shed-off unnecessary baggage of laggards. These include trade and development partners in the West. A number of recent reports on African economy stop short of telling Africa to dump the West. http://eaers.blogspot.com/2012/05/time-for-africa-to-ditch-west.html
And then what after ditching the west? You cannot streamline your trading partners like that in todays world, we need to diversify not ditch. What does Africa manufacture again? This is what I call "illusions of grandeur".
