Ipoh’s latest development offers individual basement parking

IF you are looking to buy landed property in Ipoh with extra privacy in mind, a house with an individual basement parking lot may interest you.

Just park your car and go straight up to your house. Prying eyes will not be able to find out whether you are at home.

And privacy is one of the features Datuk Lee Seng Hee had in mind when he came up with his latest residential project — Camp Cool — in Ipoh.

The group executive chairman of Team Keris Bhd said each unit comes with an individual parking lot.

“I got the idea from Beijing and Shanghai where the basement carparks help to shield the occupants from the harsh weather conditions “ he told MetroBiz recently.

Camp Cool is a gated-and-guarded community project on freehold land off Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah (Jalan Gopeng).

The 441 units of terrace, semi-D and cluster houses under the project are priced from RM448,000 per unit.

With 25 years in property development, the 59-year-old Lee, who had his tertiary education in Belfast, said he drew much inspiration for his projects from his travels.

“Every man’s home is his castle, and our houses should be able to provide this type of feeling and satisfaction for our customers,’” he said.

Team Keris, with RM175mil in paid-up capital, is among the big players in the property sector in Ipoh.

Its profile comprises residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Lee said the people in Ipoh were also increasingly receptive to condominium living.

He said its current condominium project — Treetops — would feature a green and well- landscaped environment.





Inspired by a documentary called Treehouse, Lee said he would engage a good landscape consultant to create that type of environment for Treetops.

Treetops is located just next to Camp Cool.

Lee said Team Keris was also involved in developing modern commercial centres.

These centres are landmarks and its upcoming project, Times Square Ipoh, is described as “suave, cool and sassy” in the company’s website.

Development, said Lee, need not and should not be carried out at the expense of the environment.

He reckoned that the landscape that boasts state-of-the-art architecture would not be complete without a green environment to complement it.

“Ipoh used to be very green,” he said, talking about the good old days when fishing at the former tin mining ponds in Ipoh was a favourite pastime of the residents.

While Ipoh’s landscape has evolved over the last 30 years, Lee said it was at a rather slow pace.

Nevertheless, he said Ipoh, which is seeing a pick up in development momentum, could learn from the mistakes of the bigger cities, especially Kuala Lumpur.

Sustainable development is important in the long term, he added.

Lee is happy and proud that the huge trees along Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah (Jalan Gopeng), where Team Keris’ headquarters is located, are still around.

Gazing at the greenery from the window in his office, Lee has great plans for this part of the city in the near future.

“This is a prime area with vast potential for integrated commercial development.

“The next 10 to 20 years will be a very exciting time for Ipoh.

“It is about how Ipoh will develop and move foward,” he said.
