I think the answer is kinda obvious when you look at where it's at. Is the establishment RIP... no prob not. But is the current location going to remain a run down looking single story building in the heart of Miami... no FLORIDA's, hottest neighborhood? Hell no. The next thing on that site will be no less than 20 stories (prob alot more).

That building ties to the parking lot they currently use. Guessing they won't be able to use the parking lot for concerts and such then eh? How about for parking?

I cheer most development but you guys will have to forgive me if I don't pick up any pom-poms for Tobacco Road moving from there.

Nothing that replaces it will be nearly as interesting or as essentially Miami to me. Makes me kinda sad, actually.

What a damn shame Tobacco Road is leaving that iconic spot. That whole strip gives character to the area and is a nice change to all the high rises. However, it was only a matter before this news became public once this land was bought by that Columbian developer.

Brickell can't live on skyscrapers alone.

So in the name of research I've gone to a few NEW beer bars this week (another one tonight) in the wynwood area: KUSH, brick house.... And my conclusion is Tobacco Road should move to wynwood. Like my hipster wannabe buddy I was with who said "this is more my style than brickell".

I think he has a point. Brickell is becoming a fancier bar establishment. Which has it's market in Miami indeed (me, depending on mood and company). And wynwood should absorb the tobacco roads and blackbirds that are being pushed out of brickell. I don't know. It's my opinion. Anyhow check those out those who live close by!

^^You know, Wynwood WOULD be a great location for a new Tobacco Road...agreed.

You can't replace the history, though. I'm generally as positive towards new developments as most here (as long as it's well-designed stuff, which some isn't) but in this instance I really don't care what goes up in that spot. For me, it's better with a genuine Miami landmark enduring there. But that's not to be.

(fully approve of your "research," by the way)

They started about a month ago. Employees didn't know the place was going to shut down until about 3-4 weeks before it actually did. They didn't have much time.
