There's just something intense and energetic about every photo of Japan from the 1980s that I've seen. Of course seeing it in a photo and experiencing it are completely different, but I didn't feel much of that at all when I lived there 2003-2004. Maybe I'm just imagining what I see in those photos, but maybe it has something to do with the bubble economy bursting.
The pictures of Tokyo in 1984 feel more like the Tokyo I know today.The two notable differences were the lack of really tall buildings on the skyline and the fashion.They appeared to be a little more conservative than they are today.Not as wacky.
