There are a few "automatics" but there are also a couple of surpises.

Nice, although a per-capita figure would be more accurate.

Counties like LA, Cook, and Orange would have the most because they are so damn big.
Interesting stats I milked from the info (and the Census):

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not too surprised by any of those places. They are all either counties with thriving cities or counties that are warm-weather retirement destinations for those that can afford it.
A more accurate statistic would be getting the county population thats over 18, and just using that number. Or using the total number of households as the number. It's ridiculous but in Santa Clara County the numers are as follows:

Total Pop (2005): 1,699,052
Over 18 (2005): 1,270,890

Households: 565,863 (2000)

Millionaires: 74,824 (2006)

Chances someone over 18 is a millionare: 1 in 17

Chances a household is a millionare household: 1 in 8

Yes, yes the years are all off but I still think it's a pretty accurate picture. I encourage ya'll to do the same for your county (cuz I don't have the time!)

Just out of curiosity....How does one qualify to be a 'millionaire'?

Are you a millionaire once you've bought a million dollar house, or once your net worth is one million...? Or something else altogether?

I've never really been sure...apologies if it's a stupid question.
^^ Nevermind...All I had to do was read the little blurb above the picture.
I thought for sure Fairfax County, VA would be in there, but I guess not. Perhaps if there were a top ten list for country club concentrations or how many people drive Beemers, Volvos and Mini Coopers this county would be way up there.
Haha, I live in Nassau!!
Rich. :bash:
Nope not rich. I live on the South Shore. Most of the people I know are struggling because of high taxes and the houses are really expensive here. WE almost moved to North Carolina. Most of my elementary friends are in the south/Florida some where.

But at least Nassau isnt the suburbs. Its pretty dense where I live.

Per capita income Fairfax County is high on the list.

Man, North Carolina is THE place for the people struggling with taxes. You can buy a house two times the size for probably half the price.
