Top 100 companies from Egypt?

G'day mates.

I don't see a skybar or economy section in Egypt forum. That's why I started this thread here, moderators.

I am very interested in a historical country such as yours. Can you name the top 100 firms from Egypt according to their revenues, turnover or sales for the year 2008? Any sources in English will be appreciated but if you could find the top 100 companies from Egypt with their revenues in Arabic or other languages, could you please translate them?

Oh by the way, I have heard of Naguib Mahfouz, Al Azhar University, Ahmed Zewail and Nahid Yousri (not joking!).

Egypt is such a mysterious and historical place full of charms, can you tell me any more intellectual and specially recent modern intellectuals of international repute and fame from Egypt?

Hey deanjones.

This wikipedia list of Egyptian companies is all I could find.

On the economy in general, according to the CIA, economic growth for 2008 in Egypt was at 6.9%, while population growth rate was 1.6%. You can find some good material here.

The popular Egyptian magazine in english "Business Today Egypt" has a list called Bt100, lucky for you these are the top 100 companies in Egypt.

Here is their website:

In their June issue, they will publish an updated Bt100 list, if its not available on thier website, I will run down to the stores, buy it, and type the list for you

I know for a fact that Orascom Telecom is probably the first or second on the list, and that Telecom Egypt and Vodafone are also one of the top.

BTW I really am interested in Egypt, thanks for the warm welcome. Can you point me to some notable scientists, engineers, architects, authors, artists, thinkers, and other intellectuals from Egypt? I have heard that Egypt is the heart of the Arab world, its leader.

I need to ask about site which can help me to collect data about companies in egypt with some information like revenue and fund ....etc to can do some statistical analysis on it ...can anyone help me

Their website isn't available to me either. You could check Forbes list for the top 500 listed Arab companies which features Egypt's top 60 meanwhile.
