Violence is just increasing in this world...most countries aren't safe anymore
Qatar4Ever, are you sure its a bomb? Or was it a gas explosion? I'm very sorry to hear such news comming from Qatar. This is very unexpected :(. I know how these people feel, terrorism is such a horrible phenomenon that is sweeping across the world.
man this makes me so angry...what kind of a sick #### would target a school!!! Its so sad to hear one person died. i hope this was just a freak accident and not a crime with intention!
lets wait and see..........it might be caused by a gas leak or something......don't jump to any conclusions

Car bomb hits near school in Qatar's capital
Interior Ministry: One person dead, 12 wounded

Qatar's Interior Ministry says a car bomb went off near a British school in Doha on Saturday night.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- A car bomb caused the explosion that went off near a British school in Doha on Saturday night, killing one person and wounding 12 others, said the Qatari Interior Ministry.

The nationality of the dead person is unknown.

A senior official at the ministry, Maj. Ahmed al-Hayki, told Arabic-language television station Al-Jazeera that one Briton is hurt, and the rest of the wounded are Asians, Arabs and Qataris.

They are expected to survive.

The motive and party responsible for the blast are not known.

It occurred near the school's theater, where Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" was being staged, according to The Associated Press.

Some sources said there were 100 people at the theater, most of them Westerners and Arab expatriates.

TV news footage showed slight structural and car damage.

Ambulances were shown taking people from the scene, and firefighters were also on-site.

The blast occurred in the Markhyia neighborhood, where many expatriates live.

U.S. Central Command has headquarters on the other side of town, and none of the embassies and consulates are near the blast location.

Its getting more and more dangerous this is why Bahrain is getting a lot of new facilities, most expats will move to Bahrain because all the other countries of the surrounding are getting more and more hostile + dangerous, like in kuwait for the first time! foreigners are afraid of going on the streets.

I wouldnt say bahrain is exactly immune from these current theats, and the only foreigners that are moving as a result of this are the ones that live on the eastern borders of saudi (dammam, khobar, dhahran etc.), because I guess bahrain is relatively safer. Alot of them move to bahrain and commute to saudi..hence the consturction of some new compunds to cater for this. However unlike kuwait and saudi foreginers here still go out to public places as usual...but I have known a few who avoid places of western interest such as clubs and bars...Out of all GCC countries i personally think oman is the safest place in the gulf right now and mashAllah to that.
yes safest probably oman....although i remenber hearing about some arrests around valentine day or someting like that ........anyhow oman is pretty safe

as for a city i think abu dhabi is probably the safest, for some reason everytime i go there i feel right a home, friendly environment or maybe cause i'm NOT a foreigner don't know
You guys I don't know about how safe Oman is... They arrested somewhere around 100 men a few months ago because security agencies had picked up signals that they might be planning attacks during some cultural or shopping festival. I would say that either Bahrain or the UAE are the safest.
Your right about oman, last month over 100 ppl have been arrested for their political activity. Kuwait and KSA dont seem to be safe at all, and with yestardays events, doha seems very vaunrable, madry how u spell it. UAE is pretty safe and so is bahrain. However i think bahrain as of lately has a serious problem with vandlism by certain youth and some acts of political stupidity.
Very sad to hear :(. The executer was Egyptian. I can't believe how stupid and cruel these ppl can get, honestly hell to them. They're just ruining it for everyone including themselves, and the worst part is that they do it in the name of God and Islam, which is a disgrace. Am sure Qatar will deploy tons of security forces to avoid similar incidents, plus they need to ensure max safety before the Asian Games next year.

I know what your talkin about, those are the idiots who abuse the concept of "Freedom" and think they can do whatever they want, but the police are really good and catching them very quickly. The thing about Bahrain is that you can read about this in the papers while in other countries, they'll not put it. More police are being deployed and inshalla they'll be controlled.
