I say go for it. The thrust should be to accelerate infrastructure investment that will make a better city long after the event and minimize one off expenses.
I heard a radio piece on the Expo in Japan saying that attendance had been very dissappointing as there are many places around the world competing for tourist visits and attention nowadays. I hope they use realistic visitor figures in their calculations of revenue.
Bidding for this is almost like asking a girl out; it would be embarassing if she turned us down and "went out" with Izmir, Turkey. (No personal offence to the other suitor meant). Let's put a shine on our city and try our luck, TO is a pretty handsome dude.
