Caustic, the pictures of all the 3 threads are nice, but why do you have to transform this into a political thread ? With all due respect: do you realize that your remarks unwittingly promote the same kind of hatred that some members of the party that you detest so much promote ??
You're absolutely right, but after having seen (virtually at least) all these truly wonderful places spread across our unique country, I couldn't help thinking (once again) that those northern leaguers are ignorant twats. I know it isn't politically correct of me to say these things, but guys, honestly, how can anyone sympathize with these people? And what about those others that are willing to sell monuments, historical buildings and small islands in order to sort out the national debt? Come on! These are delicate matters and as such, they should be treated seriously, with conscience.
I really don't want to talk about politics, in fact I consider this to be a cultural issue rather than a political one. Something must be terribly wrong if so few people realise how important tourism is for the economy of this country, and for the south especially. A city like Palermo (I fell in love with the place) could easily live on tourism, but when I went there in summer, the streets were half empty. I couldn't believe it!
Someone explain how come, in recent years, foreign tourists have started to snob Italy in favour of Spain and France. I've been to both countries and visited some extraordinary places, but let's be real: Heritage-wise, they turn pale when compared to Italy. That's a fact.
What to do you think? Why all this?
