Many of the small villages dotting the New Territories have been around for hundreds of years. They offer a contrast to the modern architecture in the city. Once again, it's this coexistence of traditional Chinese culture with Western culture that makes Hong Kong a global city.

The Chi Lin Nunnery is quite new, but designed using historical Chinese techniques. Not a single nail was used in the construction.
