Hundreds of workers building Leicester City's new training complex are being put at risk due to a lack of social distancing, it has been claimed.

A worker, who asked to remain anonymous, said safety measures had been put in place but were not being followed or enforced.

He said managers seemed more concerned with getting the project completed.

However, McLaren Construction said it was operating in line with construction industry guidelines.

Work on the 185-acre complex near the A46 in north Leicestershire started last year and is due to be completed this summer.

QPR in advanced talks over purchasing new site for training ground after scrapping Warren Farm plans

QPR have now scrapped plans to build a new training ground on the Warren Farm site first identified in 2012, the club and Ealing Council have confirmed.

Initial plans when the site was first selected were for the club to have a new training ground ready for use during the 2013-14 season, though planning permission issues and significant opposition from residents' groups have been a persistent problem.

Championship side QPR, who currently share training facilities with Imperial College in Harlington, have now confirmed that they have identified a new site on which to build a training ground and are in "advanced discussions" over the purchase.

Meanwhile, the west Londoners remain committed to supporting Ealing Council on developing a "first-class" community sports facility on the Warren Farm site.

The new training facility for QPR and its academy is scrapped, but they'll still look to build the community facilities. So new changing rooms, 3G pitch and upgrading existing pitches.

Got you!

I remember playing rugby with school at Warren Farm the thick end of 40 years ago. The pitches were like billiard tables.

Landslide kills construction worker at Monaco's training ground

A man involved in building work at the AS Monaco training ground in La Turbie, France, died on Monday afternoon after a landslide fell on his truck, the club confirmed in a statement.

The club's training ground is cut into the mountains just off the coast and construction is going on to improve the facilities. The work is also being done to solidify the cliff. However, a piece of rock fell from the cliff and onto the construction worker's vehicle.

Aston Villa

A sneak peek at Aston Villa's all-new £14m academy building at Bodymoor Heath. The project in North Warwickshire, which includes the building of a 500-seater match pitch, was carried out by O'Brien Contractors Limited and took two years from March 2018.

Villa's all-new £14million academy building at Bodymoor Heath has finally been completed after an extensive two-year project.

Villa, of course, banked £14.5million in compensation with HS2 due to slice through its former set of academy pitches off Bodymoor Heath Road.

The club has used every penny of compensation to create a state-of-the-art academy complex in a bid to attract and train the stars of the future.

The new academy building, which officially opened last year, has been the hub for Villa's youth teams and women's sides. The club had a new 500-seater stand and match pitch built just yards from the main building.

As well as the stadium, the site has five pristine grass pitches and a giant gated Astroturf pitch. There's also a fully synthetic 100m athletics sprint track, pitch floodlighting and player monitoring systems.

In the academy building, facilities within the club house include offices for staff members and trainers, changing rooms with showers, toilets, a fully-fitted catering canteen, server room, gym and viewing balcony overlooking the training pitches. There's 100 car parking spaces and an overfill car park opposite.
